Saying 'clean out' has a different connotation. That would suggest a physical portfolio (flat leather case) rather than an investment or professional portfolio.

: Or, since there's a direct object, "clean out" - "cleaned the X out of ..." / On "up" vs. "out": you have to deal with неперспективные проекты, therefore I think "out" (metaphorically) works better, unless you want to add a whole 'nother phrase.
