Russian to English Medical Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) HIV binding process

This is in a description of how the HIV virus binds to a target cell. Here's a depiction of glycoprotein gp120 as the spiky things sticking out of the virion.

I think "трансмембранно" can be solved by turning it into an adjective and putting it with the gp120, since it's the gp120 which extends through the membrane (envelope) of the virion. But, then, does "располагающийся" emphasize that the spikes are "arranged" on the HIV envelope, or just that it has them?

"Деструкция клеток, несущих на своей поверхности рецепторы, способные сорбировать gp120, располагающийся трансмембранно у ВИЧ и способствующий связыванию его с клетками — мишенями."

Draft: "Destruction of cells which have surface receptors capable of sorbing the transmembrane glycoprotein gp120 of the HIV, which enables the virus bind to the target cells."

So, do I need to write "arranged on the HIV envelope" instead of merely "of the HIV," or something else? (Don't worry that it's not a full sentence; this is in a list of effects.)
