Norwegian term

perlen

Norwegian to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering sprinkler heads
Not sure what this is: it's in an insurance claim regarding damage caused by a cracked sprinkler head which did not withstand water pressure.
Sentence: Det var altså godset som var ødelaft og ikke perlen.
I've seen translations such as 'pearl', 'nodule', 'globule' and I don't understand how these can fit in.
I'd appreciate it if anyone could enlighten me.

the thermal element

This seems to be referring to the "trigger" in a sprinkler head, the thermal element. I'd say the "perlen" is the liquid filled glass bulb type, used in many types of heads. This bulb will crack when being heated, thereby releasing the water.

Of course, like Ojinaga says, "godset" is the material in the valve body.
