It's a private organisation and it will be using a job agency to recruit the employee.
Daniela Zambrini Jun 17, 2010:
public or private? Is the temp staff going to be employed by a public/government/state organisation?

direct hiring

I thought for a while this might be a 'job-specific hiring' - but now think this is a hiring of someone without advertising and interviewing many candidates - but just hiring someone specifically. [although in some cases I'd still translate 'assunzione nominativa' as 'job-specific hiring]. In this case, as a direct-hiring, a job is offered to someone without consulting one of the many job agencies available in Italy or through tender - or without interviewing anyone else. I would expect this to be a temporary position until a certain job or project is completed - but it could be permenant.

The main reason I went with 'direct-hiring' instead of 'job-specific hiring' - is the part that follows regarding following specific regulations; where each job specific hiring' would vary from job to job.

I believe, even if a job agency is involved, the 'direct hiring' works in the sense that the agency is doing the searching, but the company will be hiring directly from the list of candidates the agency provides.
Example sentence:

"A direct hire is when the employer hires someone without going through a temporary agency." [web source]

"Should anyone be interested, there is a full time direct hire opening calling for Drupal development experience." [web source]

Peer comment(s):

agree Daniela Zambrini : I think this fits well. In Italy, public/government organisations usually have to issue a formal call for candidates with a certified (!) exam procedure. In some cases, especially with disabled staff or urgent requirements, direct (temp) hiring is allowed
