Italian term

CVJ

Italian to English Other History
This appears in a list of documents sent by a former partisan to a museum. I can't work out what it is, and given that there a quite a few typos in the text it's possible it's just a mistake. However, if anyone happens to know what it is, or is supposed to be...

- estratto originale del foglio notizie rilasciato dal CVJ di Torino il 12.9.1946.

Thanks in advance.

The J doesn't sound very likely because it's such a rare letter in Italian.

Volunteer Corp for Freedom / Freedom Volunteer Corp

The acronym should read CVL, Corpo Volontari della Libertà, of which more (in Italian) at

Apologies for the typo: please read as 'corps'.

'According to the directives of the General Command of the Corpo volontari della libertà del Nord Italia ("Volunteer Corps for Freedom Northern Italy"), issued in October 1944, any pact with soldiers of Italian Social Republic (RSI) (the fascist puppet-state established by the Germans in northern Italy) was considered as treason, and thus to be punished with shooting.

'Few suspected a young girl in pigtails was a soldier. When she was discharged from the Freedom Volunteer Corps after the war, she received 14,570 lire in pay. She spent the money on shoes for her family.'
