DOTTORE MAGISTRALE IN MEDICINA E CHIRURGIA.
This is on a medical degree certificate. Does magistrale have any particular meaning here or can I just ignore it? Also, I'm not sure that I can say Doctor of medicine and surgery given that full qualification as a doctor (medical)only occurs after further study/clinical practice. Can anyone help?

Hi jean,
this answer is not really for grading, but just to give you some links which might explain a bit better what a Dottore Magistrale is.
I am not sure a corresponding title exists in English

Comment: "Dear Mario,
thanks for the links - it looks like it is the equivalent of a 5-year degree, standard 3 years + 2. I have left it in the Italian with an explanation."

skillful/skilled doctor
I thought magistrale means masters, which lead to skill, sometimes the italian words are the same as english but give a different meaning, anyway i belive it is:
a skilled medical and surgical doctor (since there are several doctors other than medical)
i hope this helped.
good luck

Discussion
My title "dottore magistrale in Conservazione dei beni culturali" has been translated as "Master of Art" I am not sure this is right, but I am completely sure that this is a key word to describe a title for someone graduated in a Master Degree, so it's very important!
