A maradék borokat (fejtéskor) öntötték bele. Hátha, hátha valaki találkozott már vele, mielőtt a "képen látható edény" megoldásra kényszerülök...

noggin, quaigh/quaich, two handled wooden wessel
A noggin is an archaic term for a small drinking cup, often* one made from wood. From this, it is also used as a unit of liquid measure equal to one quarter of a pint or a gill, that is either 142mL if using Imperial (British) pints or 118mL if using US pints.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noggin
*más források szerint mindig fából.
Quaigh is a shallow drinking utensil of Scottish origin, usually made of small wooden staves, hooped together, and having two ears or handles.

Mind a kettő legalább annyira ismert, mint a cserpák magyarul. :-)
Le lehet úgy is írni, hogy quaigh-like, noggin-like, vagy egyszerűen two handled (shallow) wooden wessel.

Goggan and Noggin. A goggan is " a small tub or pail with one of the staves longer than the rest to act as a handle," and will hold several quarts (V.A.D., " Goggan "). Being wider at the top than at the bottom it was convenient for milking into. In A Second Manx Scrapbook, page 322, I confused this receptacle with the ' noggin,' a vessel holding a quarter of a pint. I now notice that both Manx dictionaries make the same mistake, unless the meaning of ' goggan ' has altered since they were compiled.

Végül még egy, nagyon hasonló.
Piggin, a small wooden domestic vessel. " i cann and piggin " occur in the kitchen of Castle Rushen (Inventory of 1694). " The first course of a Manks feast is always broth, which is served up . . . in wooden piggins, every man his mess " (Waldron, Isle of Man, 1731). The piggin is probably obsolete. Kermode in Manks Antiquities (1904), page 107, identifies it with the noggin, but the piggin must have been much more capacious, approximating to the goggan if not actually the same thing.

: "Noggin" korsó (fedéllel is), "quaich" (vö. "kehely"/"Kelch") az ógör. "kylix" rokona: http://www.bauerart.com/antiquities/antiquities.html - IVÓedények, míg a "cserpák" merőedény, egyfülű!

A kérdés kétfülűt keres, és az általam idézett képen látható quaigh messze esett a kylixtől. A nogginnak pedig nincs fedele. Egyébként úgyis a two handled wooden wesselt pártolom.

Comment: "A népi edénymegjelölések lenyűgöztek, mit megtud az ember, de nekem magyaros hangulatot kéne árasztanom, úgyhogy marad a cserpa (cserpák?), plusz two handled wooden vessel. Köszönöm Andásnak is!"

dipper

Itt római rokonai is láthatók:

A "cserpa" valóban a "cserpák"-ból jött létre.
English meaning: a k. of wine dipper. Georgian: ḳoṗ-e. Megrel: ḳoṗ-a. Laz: ḳoṗa. Laz meaning (Rus.): большой ***черпак***. Laz meaning (Eng.): big ***dipper*** ...

A problémát fordítástechnikailag igy lehet kezelni:
... cserpa (originally a dipper) ...
[és kurziválni a cserpát]
Akkor aztán akár holdjárműnek is használhatják a jámbor helybéliek.

Note from asker:
Ajajaj! Hm. És megint: ajajaj. |
Ez a holdjármű, ez jó :-) |

: A dipper a laddle - merőkanál másik neve.
