Inside a chart for the relations between the financial and real estate markets, "Flächennachfrage" ... opposite it was "Flächenangebot" on the chart, and above the two phrases were two other terms: "Mietpreisbildung auf der Grundlage immobilienökonomischer Fundamentaldaten" and "Langsame Marktreaktion." My question concerns only the phrase "Flächennachfrage," and this is the context of my question; for "Flächennachfrage," would it be demand for land or properties?

I don't think space demand pulls it, regardless of what one or another expensive dictionary might say. The usual term IMO is land demand. This can be further qualified by prefixing, e.g. industrial land demand, residential land demand, etc. See the two Google links for examples of residential land demand and simple land demand.
