German term

Z-Richtung

German to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting sintering
43 µm, 32µm in Z-Richtung.

There is also a reference to "Z":

Wikipedia says Z represents the atomic number but I am not sure about "Z-Richtung".

Z direction, Z axis

without more context. Could be spatial coordinates, i.e. X, Y and Z direction
Peer comment(s):

agree David Willett : Z-direction is correct. If the writer meant Z-axis, (s)he would have written Z-Achse. Anyway, IN the Z-axis doesn't make sense - something can only be IN the Z-direction or ALONG the Z-axis.

"in" - where did I write that? I added axis as a qualifier to direction. Technically speaking, I prefer "axis" to "direction", just because the writer did not use "Achse" doesn't mean that it cannot be used in a translation.

agree Lori Dendy-Molz : Also with "Z direction" -- it says "32µm in Z-Richtung" in the text, and I think direction is what's meant here.
