German term

Prüfvermerk

German to English Tech/Engineering Medical: Pharmaceuticals
This appears in a QA text that deals with the qualification of equipment in the pharmaceutical industry.

Context:
Es ist wichtig, dass Rohdaten (Fließbilder, Funktionsablaufpläne), die zur Prüfung herangezogen werden, auch Prüfvermerke tragen.

Attempted translation:
I know what it is (I think) but I'm not very happy with what I've come up with so far:

test notes check memo check mark

it's obviously a way of identifying whether something has been checked or not. The text also mentions "abhaken", and a tick is a specific "Prüfvermerk" I suppose but I'm looking for a more generic term here.

Thank you very much in advance

inspection mark

it's not clear from the text whether the goods have in fact been approved or just inspected

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I agree with you. I think we are dealing with "inspection" = "Prüfung" and not necessarily "approval" = "Genehmigung/Freigabe". "

auch Prüfvermerke tragen --> have also been accredited

maybe a bit round about but nothing else springs to mind at the moment

Comment: "Thanks for your answer. In this case we are dealing with the company's internal checks, e.g. on information from suppliers. Therefore the company would for example tick off equipment in diagrams from suppliers to verify that it exists and is correct. Accreditation on the other hand is carried out on the laboratory/company by an external organisation."

in this sentence: ... are also marked for approval (could be a stamp, signature, ...)

Note: accreditation usually applies to institutions that are allowed to perform tests / surveys / etc. (quality assurance, CE-marking)

@James: My understanding is that this sentence deals with the design of pharmaceutical equipment and/or processes (which yet have to be approved by an accredited / notified body), but which must be marked for approval (internally by the applicant) prior to submission for official / legal approval.

neutral James Johnson : "This appears in a QA text that deals with the qualification of equipment in the pharmaceutical industry" from the original poster, thats why i went for accreditation ...

Comment: "Thanks for your answer and your link. I agree with your comments on accreditation. However in this context, I'm still not convinced that "approval" is the right translation in this context (see comments at accepted answer). The marks made on the documents during inspection are subsequently checked by Quality Control so to say that they are approved at this stage might be slightly misleading. "

evidence of approval

Flow charts and other docs would need to carry e.g. their issue history and the ID of the people who signed them off. I feel this goes beyond a simple tick in a box.
If the docs are internal, then "accreditation" is less appropriate as it often implies that an external body has been at work. (Is the accrediting body requesting the documents we're talking about here?)
Good luck

Comment: "Thanks for your answer and for the supporting link by the agreer. I am still uncertain as to whether "approval" is the right expression to use, hence the accepted answer (also see feedback on other answer). However, I imagine that if a mark is made in the document, the person who carries this out signals their approval, even if this needs to be approved by the QA dept. This was a difficult one to decide. "
