German term

Zurufgeschäfte

Discussion

Ken Cox Aug 25, 2006:
Further to the discussion: it's certainly not 'verbal' (try googling 'verbal contract' or 'verbal agreement'). 'Informal' sounds reasonable. Bear in mind that the quote marks in the original mean the term is inofficial (a significant consideration here).
Aug 24, 2006:
It(= "informal commitments") fits the context as far as I can judge. "informal commitments (that are formalized later on)" conveys the meaning and idea of the source text. I need a break, too. Probably something better comes to my mind in the morning.
Aug 24, 2006:
"informal commitment" sounds much better. At least it was the waz we called it in international finance.

Olaf Reibedanz (asker) Aug 24, 2006:
Of course... I think I need a break!! What about "informal commitments"?
Aug 24, 2006:
"mündlich, per Mail, Fax und Telefon" are not exactly "verbal", I´m afraid. They are bilateral for sure and mutual. Let me think a while.
Olaf Reibedanz (asker) Aug 24, 2006:
I just found the following link with a good definition of the term: http://www.bdi-online.de/Dokumente/Logistik_AGB.pdf#search="... On the basis of this definition one could perhaps translate it as "verbal commitments". What do you think?

ancillary services/ (business) contracts

Hi,

Based on my research, what is meant here are added-on services/(business) contracts.

Definition:
Auftraggeber (i. d. R. die verladende Wirtschaft) gedacht.

Well, I checked the term through 'making informal commitments' and found no better solution so far. There is a kind of a shady touch in the term 'informal deal(s)'.
