German term
Ablauf von Mandaten
German to English
Bus/Financial
Human Resources
Translating a marketing brochure for an HR consulting firm. Under the header "Experience," there is the following sentence:
Kompetenz im ***Ablauf von Mandaten***, Handling von Unterlagen und Kandidaten, Testverfahren und Persönlichkeitsanalysen, Wettbewerbsbeobachtung und Personalcontrolling.
I am drawing a blank and have no idea what is meant with "Ablauf von Mandaten" here. I'd appreciate any help.

Handling/processing of (direct debit) mandates
This refers to a payment arrangement where the payor (e.g., I) gives formal permission to a payee (e.g., electric utility) to draft their monthly bill from the payor's checking account or charge it to a payee's credit card. This would make the most sense in the HR context if the transaction is the direct deposit of salaries or wages, or possibly billing of customers for which this consulting firm would offer training for the accounting department personnel. The SEPA standards for this are quite new, so highlighting the ability to offer training for it in a varied list of offerings is worthwhile.

Note from asker:
That is a very good thought, but a lot of speculation. I decided to make a note for the agency to check on the meaning with the client, just to be safe. Thanks! |
Discussion
In Swiss German "Ablauf" can mean "Abarbeitung/Erledigung", i.e. "execution/processing" or similar...
Obviously there is a process or procedure at work. But *Ablauf von Mandanten* is not an adequate way of expressing it.
