German term

Passivbauweise

German to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Environment
Would you guys say that "Green Building" is an umbrella concept covering more than just the actual method of construction? If not, I'd be keen to learn of others' preferences between environmentally-friendly, energy-friendly or whatever.

TIA

Context is thin and not important IMO: "28 Reihenhäuser in Passivbauweise in Karlsruhe-Hohenwettersbach"

in keeping with the Passive House Standard

Believe it or not, the term "Passive House Standard" is actually used in the UK. See the definition of this and other terms (in Germany and other countries) on this website:

The Architecture Centre describes such a house at:

\"Germany\'s Passiv Haus Institut (PHI) has become a leading centre in developing a specification for the next generation of energy efficient buildings, the Passive House Standard. In 400 residential buildings the standard has reduced total energy consumption to 12% of the UK norm. The approach has now been applied to an office and factory in Colbe, Marburg.\"

Peer comment(s):

agree Andrew D : "Passiv House" is important as it implies that a main cost factor can be done without: the heating, radiators etc.

I found this definition on http://www.planetproperty.de/magazine/dictionary_detail.phtm...

Passivbauweise
Building techniques

agree Teresa Reinhardt : maybe also "passive solar [house]"
