Discussion

David Williams (asker) Nov 24, 2009:
Thanks! If I hear back from the customer I will let you know :-)
Oliver Walter Nov 20, 2009:
Context and employer You might already have enough context if the rest of the text says when the Skinmontage is done. It would probably be "assembly" if the skin is put together before being fixed to the body, but "fitting the skin" if all the skin pieces are separate until Skinmontage fits and fixes them to the body. Re your employer: just in case you haven't already done so, you need to inform them that their (in)action rather than a lack of knowledge on your part, is likely to result in a lower quality translation.
David Williams (asker) Nov 20, 2009:
In the mean time Have a nice weekend, if we don't communicate again today! :-)
Bernd Runge Nov 20, 2009:
To assume doesn't really help. Sorry, I'm afraid that my translational support service terminates here. E-meet you next time ;-)
David Williams (asker) Nov 20, 2009:
Ich gehe davon aus dass es nach der Skinmontage auf der Struktur ist, also nachdem die Beplankung am Rumpf monitert wird.
Genaueres dazu, was Interfaceplatten sind usw. weiß ich auch nicht.
Bernd Runge Nov 20, 2009:
Does that help? Nein!
David Williams (asker) Nov 20, 2009:
The context is the same as that in http://www.proz.com/kudoz/3564391 (at the end of the same paragraph).

LOL! Which answerer wouldn't make that claim?
Bernd Runge Nov 20, 2009:
Context In the absence of further context, my suggested translation is what seems most likely to me.
Just kidding.

David Williams (asker) Nov 20, 2009:
Is it really fitting/fastening and not assembly, as Montage often is (e.g. assembly line, final assembly). That was the point of my question, although I admit didn't make that clear. Presumably the skins are also assembled before fitting/fastening to the fuselage?
