German term

Türschließkraft

German to English Tech/Engineering Aerospace / Aviation / Space Safety
Context: Emergency Procedures training
"Simulation des Drucks bzw. der Türkräfte beim Öffnen einer Flugzeugtür...
Research led me to Türschließkraft, because there were exactly 2 Google entries for "Türkraft", but I haven't been able to find an English term for it. Otherwise this is a straightforward marketing text, with just this one bit of specialised technology.
Thanks in advance.
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

Bernd Runge Jun 24, 2009:
I'd go for something like simulation of differential pressure forces acting on the cabin door when opened in-flight.

I tried to avoid this to protect my customer's identity, but if there's no other way: "Einer der Stärken der Fa.XYZ ist die Möglichkeit der Durchführung dieses Trainings nach EU OPS-Standard (Simulation des Drucks bzw. der Türkräfte beim Öffnen einer Flugzeugtür).
Bernd Runge Jun 24, 2009:
Please, provide at least the whole sentence.
Türschließkraft may not be the term you're looking for.

think Bernd could be right...you might not be looking for "Türschließkraft" but rater something like "door force"...die Türkraft selbst....
Peer comment(s):

agree jccantrell : force would be my choice as these things are not usually powered in the sense of some assistance. See: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/north/story/2009/04/16/nunavut-flig...

2 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "This is the right answer for the term I stated, but in the end I went with "forces affecting the door", as the text is essentially kept very general (non-technical) and the "Türkräfte", which is the original term used, is not specific, either. Upon reading the text several more times, I concluded that it was intentionally non-specific and translated it in that vein."
