French term

le Chardonnay s'exprime bien

French to English Social Sciences Wine / Oenology / Viticulture wine-tasting experiment
I know what this means but don't know how to say it in wine lingo. This is from a wine expert's description:

Robe or vert brillante.
Nez subtil ; le Chardonnay s’exprime bien, le bois est harmonieux.
Note bois fumé, vanille, coco, épicé, miel, amande. Note pain grillé, beurre, boisé distingué.
Bouche : le bois est remarquablement bien incorporé ; sensation tactile excellente ; pas de
Rigidification des muqueuses.
Laisse le vin propre.

Thanks, Karen

the flavours or aromas of Chardonnay are easily identifiable

This would mean that the grape variety can be easily identified in the wine.

I am currently undergoing a Masters programme in International trade of Wines and Spirits in France.

this is a classic Chardonnay

I totally agree with Sujta but I thought I would offer another option.
or 'this is a typical Chardonnay'
Peer comment(s):

neutral Bourth (X) : I suspect it's actually a blended wine (most French wines are) in which the Chardonnay content comes out.

[In fact there are LOTS of hits for "varietal character comes through" ; since your Chardonnay is one such variety, there's no reason why you can't use "Chardonnay flavour comes through" (strongly, etc.)]

You will experience fragrant fruit and berry aromas, but the Chardonnay comes through

Meursault, 1er Cru Perrieres, 1986 (Guy Roulet) Botrytised nose, honeyed, smoky (not oak), almost Alsace Pinot Gris initially, yet purer chardonnay comes through before fading to maderised characters. So complex on nose that palate seems uninteresting and lean by comparison.Just over the hill by 2-4 years possibly

another possibility: I'm trying to think of what Jilly Goulden (famous wine-taster in Britain) might say!
