French term

lyre

French to English Other Wine / Oenology / Viticulture Wine glasses
"...grâce à ses quatre formes intemporelles et complémentaires – tulipe, ballon, ***lyre*** et flûte."

Lyre-shaped I have for the moment, but is that the correct term, is there a better term, and will the wine-drinking man in the street understand "lyre-shaped"?

Burgundy-style?

Thanks!

"Cristal d'Arques Paris has created a new collection of oenological glasses intended for superior quality wine tasting.[...]

Sélection des Connaisseurs is available in four shapes: lyre, tulip, balloon, and flute. [...]

40cl-Lyre
This glass suits a very wide range of wines, but especially rather mature reds. The shape slightly opens out to liberate the bouquet and to enhance the aromas of the wines.
Recommended wines: Côtes du Rhône villages rosé, Corbières, Cahors, Pénèdès (Spain), Mateus du Portugal, Lacrima Christi del Vesuvio (Italy), Humagne rouge (Switzerland), Chianti (Italy), Valpolicella (Italy), Wines from Pays d’Oc."

Riedel wine glass company recommends a selection of glasses for red burgundy, but only one of them (in the exclusive category) is lyre shaped. See link.

Crystal d'Arques also sell a lyre shaped cocktail glass.

tulip

The "lyre" shape is exactly the same as the tulip as far as I can see. Tulip shaped is more common.
