the all-communicating

My guess is that this is originally a French term, because it seems to plays on different senses of "tout" (whole/all/everything) that don't work in English, and hover between being an adjective and a noun (the all-communicating and the communicating all).

The "all-communicating" seems to get used in the same kind of contexts as the "tout-communicationnel", ie in talking about the contemporary era of communications, or the contemporary theory of that era, eg.

The "tout-fictionnel" also seems to be about a kind of "pan-fictionalism" rather than a "fictional whole", eg. "Mais on jugera que la fermeté des arguments proposés par D. Cohn contre le « tout fictionnel » ou le « tout subjectif » des déconstructions « post-modernes » du récit." (Le partage des eaux, www.fabula.org/revue/cr/6.php)

Yes, this seems right, thank you very much indeed.

agree Emma Paulay : I think you're probably right. Tout-communication could also refer to blogs, forums, chats on the internet and all-fictional to the "virtual" worlds created by IT.

Thanks for this, I'm not entirely convinced the examples don't read as adverb+adjective rather than a composite substantive (if that makes any sense!!)
