French term

environnement particulaire

French to English Law/Patents Medical: Instruments subcontracting agreement
This is from a subcontracting agreement between two companies, one of which has developed an absorbable surgical device. This company is contracting with another who will be responsible for manufacturing, sterilising and packaging the device. I'm confused as to what "environnement particuliere" means here:

6.4 Contrôle de l’environnement particulaire et micro-biologique.
Pour chaque campagne de production le niveau de l’environnement particulaire pour le plafond sous flux laminaire et micro-biologique pour la salle d’assemblage et de conditionnement devra être réalisé par XXX pour être en conformité avec les normes suivantes :
- Iso 6, pour l’environnement particulaire
- Classe B, pour l’environnement micro-biologique.

Thank you

airborne particle levels

This page has loads of stuff on EU and FDA definitions for particulate and microbiological conditions, ISO standards etc.

The title "Contrôle de l’environnement particulaire et micro-biologique" is tricky, as without more context it's hard to know whether it refers to testing the levels/maintaining acceptable levels (probably both). I'd be tempted to use something like "Particulate and microbiological cleanliness", a formula that comes up quite a bit on that link and others, and leave the specifics of what his "contrôle" entails to the content of the section.

Another suggestion for the title would be "Ensuring airborne particulate and microbiological cleanliness"

eg
http://www.particle.com/whitepapers_met/Cleanroom Standards....

Federal Standard 209E has long been the only definition of cleanroom classification levels available from a standards organization. FS209E, Airborne Particulate Cleanliness Classes in Clean Rooms and Clean Zones, is from the U.S. General Service Administration and approved for use by all U.S. agencies. In the absence of an international standard, FS 209E was broadly used internationally.

agree Cetacea : So, in view of the title Rebecca needs to translate, wouldn't it be "microbiological and particulate environment"?

NOT particules but PARTICLES. Sorry about that. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Richard.

neutral Richard Benham : What's a particule?//Well they're "particles" in English, have nothing to do with the question, and are not universally accepted.

Le modèle standard de la physique, universellement admis, postule que l'univers est un gigantesque jeu de construction. Chaque objet est composé d'un assemblage de quelques blocs fondamentaux: les particules élémentaires.
