Dear colleagues,
I would appreciate some help with this phrase:
Iléus persistant avec vomissement dans la nuit du 24 au 25; reprise d'une SNG peu productive
Reprise de diurèse à 1600 ml/24h mais surcharge hydrosodée persistante : tentative de négativation en bas débit pour UF isolée, disparition de la menace kaliémique.
Thank you!

attempt to reverse/make it negative at a low flow rate
(My understanding)
Patient has persistent ileus; naso-gastric tube to suction the stomach contents was insufficiently productive; diuresis resumed, but fluid retention persisted; so they attempted to make the fluid retention negative (reverse it) at a low flow rate in order to try isolated UF; and the threat of elevated serum potassium disappeared.

I don't think the two are contradictory... If something is above normal levels, it has to be negative for a bit in order to return to normal, no? Perhaps "reverse" is safer then? Diseases, disorders and infections can be reversed, high levels of AST and ALT can be reversed... I think it simply means they are made to return to normal.

Hello Nathalie, I had to refer this back to the client, as I could find no evidence for your answer. Sorry! |
