French term

XXX ne s’appuie pour étayer concrètement sa démonstration

French to English Marketing Forestry / Wood / Timber
Can you help me with this translation? I am completely lost!! I am translating from FRN to ENG. This seems a bit redundant...

En dehors d’allégations gratuites, XXX ne s’appuie pour étayer concrètement sa démonstration que sur la seule dénonciation au Cameroun de l’exploitation sous Autorisation de Récupération des Bois « ARB 100.3001 ».

Despite spurious allegations, XXX is only referring to accusation of exploitation in Cameroon to concretely support its protest against authorization to salvage timber (Autorisation de Récupération des Bois « ARB 100.3001 »).

IMO, no, not really Did you research your topic?

Alain's wording is not wrong, but I might try: Unsubstantiated allegations aside, Greenpeace's arguments are based solely on its objection to timber exploitation in Cameroon using "salvage" permits (Autorisation de Récupération des Bois, ARB 100.3001) or something like that, though I have taken some liberties here for the sake of readability.

Is this attempt better:

Despite spurious allegations, Greenpeace only relies on accusations of exploitation in Cameroon to substantiate in concrete terms its protest against authorization/permits to salvage timber (Autorisation de Récupération des Bois « ARB 100.3001 »).

@ CC in NYC Good morning!

Which is why I have not ventured into suggesting an answer. ;-)

@ Nikki No argument with your nuanced suggestions, but Asker's attempt – however valiant – needs major surgery. I tried to keep things as simple as possible.
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jan 11, 2012:
for "ne...que" Rather than 'onl'y, perhaps 'soley' or 'purely' may read more smoothly, depending on how you turn the rest of the phrase of course.

Please reconsider You may want to adjust the parsing before continuing...
ne... que : only
étayer concrètement sa démonstration : support his argument in concrete terms
s’appuyer sur : lean on, rely on
...or something like that. Then you'll need to revise the rest to suit.
