French term

process métiers

French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Bank letter on operational risks
The paragraph below is a real minefield.

I realise that 'process' is now used in French in certain contexts and appears (loosely) to mean 'processes'. However, 'process métiers' has a specific meaning that so far I have been unable to work out. I suspect it may mean 'industry processes' or 'industry-specific processes' but that's just a gut feeling.

Any help appreciated.

agree Tony M : Yes, I believe so; I've always understood 'métiers' here to be referring to the different professional disciplines that may be found in a given business.

agree Charlie Bavington : yep, there are hundreds (ish!) of kudoz discussions about "metier" used as a qualifier. Business is my preferred term.
