sewage treatment
I know this is in the glossary under terrain d'épandage as land for spreading waste, but I'm not sure whether that applies here. This seems to be part of a septic tank/sewage treatment system. Eurodicautom gives épandage either as waste water spillage or broad irrigation, which I'm not sure about either.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Comment: "In view of Bourth's definition and the various ghits for leach field in the context of septic tanks, I think you're absolutely right - many thanks to everyone!"

wastewater infiltration system
It may well be this. There are quite a lot of ghits.
A "bassin d'épandage" is an infiltration basin, so why not?

waste treatment network
The reference here as you have rightly thought is about a purification plant where waste/sewage is treated using sans filter, waste treatment network..

soakaway system
If this is something like a domestic septic tank system, that's what it would usually be called, I believe.

Hi, J-J! That must be the official term, down 'ere on the farm, we just call it a soakaway (clearly a rather informal term!)

definition
Dicobat - which I would recommend to anyone - says:
GB. soil sewage dispersion system, absorption bed, irrigated sewage field, disposal field, disposal bed [IOW, others have had trouble finding a translation too!] ... >>
