Ok, Patrick, I meant it couldn't be a French acronym with the letters in that order. Of course it shouldn't be trasnlated, but you never konw if the author tried to, lol. As to the dérogation, maybe it should be a "waiver", then?

@Mario sorry about that, you wrote "ADSL cannot be translated to French in that order" ... it's not that it cannot, it's simply it doesn't need to be translated... and a "dérogation" in french is a dispensation not a disclaimer. A dérogation is the right to do something when you should not be authorised to do it.

@ Pooja I changed my mind. ADSL cannot be translated to French in that order. I think the acronym is already in Enlgish:

DASL - programming language: Datapoint's Advanced Systems Language OR
DASL - Digital Adapter Subscriber Loops
