English Marketing General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters is the ing form correct here?
Dear Colleagues English native,
I am translating a text into Italian, I have just found the sentence pasted above, which to my "non native" ear does not sound correct, but of course I can be wrong.
The "ing " for does not sound correct to me here because of the "To" but this a text of press release, so it is highly possible that I am wrong.
This is not essential for my translation but I would like to know if I am wrong or not, can someone kindly tell me if this sentence is correct and if yes why?

Thanks a lot in advance :=)

Thank you cmwilliams for youe explanation :)
cmwilliams (X) Nov 3, 2007:
but it's usually 'to provide somebody with something' so it would be '...committed to providing our customers with....'
Mirella Soffio Nov 3, 2007:
Correct - see http://writing.umn.edu/sws/quicktips/style_grammar/verbform....
You can be commited to shtg or to doing something - the -ing form acts as a noun.
Michel A. Nov 3, 2007:
IMHO, it's correct, think of "I look forward to hearing from you"
