is grain origination the same as acquisition/ purchase?
I have come across this term in materials about an agribusiness company. I wonder if there is any specific meaning or if it it just a customary phrase for purchasing grain from farmers.
"We switched our origination program from the U.S. to take advantage of Brazil's August safrinha crop, and increased our Brazilian origination by roughly 6 million tons."

I was about to agree with Armorel but researched the word a bit more and discovered it has a broader meaning than "sourcing" although this IS part of it. It is really about
commodity marketing</> the commodity here being grain.
It seems, from the descriptions below, that "origination" does not only involve buying the grain from the originator country or area from the source, (though it could be storage elevators, not necessarily directly from the farmers), but also means giving advice to farmers about growing (types) and marketing and then trading, or selling on the grain obtained at good margins or profits. also could be termed as farm to market
