English term

brake

English to Turkish Tech/Engineering Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Processing Flax
Greetings,

My (Turkish) wife is sure that she has seen a brake in Turkey. It’s used for separating the fibres of the flax from the rest of the plant.

Please see

The primitive brake is the very first picture you come to, at the top of the page. A more sophisticated version comes second (with the rollers).

Just in case it help, the Kyrghyz word for a similar device is “talku” (long U).

All the best,

Simon
