English term

consult

English to Spanish Art/Literary Religion
(cf. Proverbs 4:10).
There are few men who do not wish to live long, but there are few too who can trust as much to the counsels of the sovereign arbiter of life and deathm as to the counsels of a good physician; for not all men have faith. Many shorten their days by seeking to the physicians rather that to the Lord.
A wise man would not choose, for the sake of a long life, to expose himself to guilt and misery. But Salomon, in his prescription, CONSULTS our innocence and happiness, as well as the length of our lives.

tener presente

There is nothing wrong with "tener en cuenta" but "tener presente" would emphasize "awareness" rather than, as in the former case, "intention". It is a question of which nuance you prefer.

By the way, the English is rather strange. If "consults" makes any sense at all in such a context than it is surely an archaism.

Best regards.
