English term

Fretware

English to Spanish Other Music
Hi. I´m translating a documentary on a musician. Referring to one of his guitars, an instrument technician mentions the term "fretware", which I really don´t know how to translate. I'd be grateful if you gave me some ideas. Thanks!

Here's some context:

01:12:30:06 01:12:32:00
There is a lot of fretware here,

01:12:32:01 01:12:34:22
and he didn't think
that he possibly was playing it

01:12:34:23 01:12:36:08
with that much fretware.

01:12:36:09 01:12:37:11
So, you know.

01:12:37:12 01:12:39:02
Some guy said he played it for ten years.

01:12:39:03 01:12:41:03
Yeah, somebody played it
a lot for ten years.

01:12:41:04 01:12:42:09
Right.

Glad to have been helpful on this :)

Hi again. Based on the ProZ support team's answer, I've decided that I'll choose Oliver's answer as the most helpful one, since he pointed out that there was a typo. But to be fair on David, who suggested a translation for the original term I posted, I'll include his translation in the glossary of terms --"sistema de afinación (Fretware)". Thanks again for you help, guys! Best. Mirela

Hi David, oromero and Lorena. I´m very grateful for your help. Indeed, there was a typo in the original English script, and the correct term should be "fret wear" --my client has just confirmed. I didn't realize until oromero mentioned it. The thing is, the term Fretware exists, and, as David says, it is a "sistema de afinación", so his suggestion is a good one. I think both David and oromero should take the credit for their help, but of course it's not possible to choose both answers. So I've sent a help request to the ProZ support team for them to tell me how to solve the credit and grading issue here. Thanks a lot to you all!! Best regards. Mirela

I'm almost certain there's a typo there: not fretWARE but fret WEAR...
