This is the examination of a patient with constipation. I assume 'vault' is some part of the intestinal anatomy, but I can't find anything on it. Any ideas? Very grateful for your help!

Der übliche Ausdruck ist hier tatsächlich Ampulle bzw. Ampulla recti, dies bezeichnet den (größeren) Teil des Rektums, in dem sich der Stuhl sammelt.
Ein typischer Satz in einem Arztbrief würde lauten: Bei der rektalen Untersuchung fand sich harter Stuhl in der Ampulle. (Habe als Ärztin früher selbst solche Briefe verfasst.)
Eine massiv stuhlgefüllte Ampulle schränkt die Aussagekraft der Untersuchung jedoch erheblich ein.
