Folly is the only thing that keeps youth at a stay and old age afar off
This is the only sentence I can find in the translation suggested by Writeaway that seems to match the proverb:
And to this purpose is that no small testimony of the proverb,
that says, "Folly is the only thing that keeps youth at a stay and old
age afar off;" as it is verified in the Brabanders, of whom there goes
this common saying, "That age, which is wont to render other men wiser, makes them the greater fools."

7 hrs
one who does not play has a short childhood
It's not a very poetic rendering, but that is what it looks like it says, prosaically.

or rather, "a short youth." grows old quickly?
