strategic plan

suggestie

Ik lees in het boek waarnaar je verwees dat de besturingsopgave iets zegt over de missie, een aantal (3-5) strategische doelstellingen noemt en eventueel iets zegt over de kernactiviteiten en producten

Strategic plan - A document used by an organization to align its organization and budget structure with organizational priorities, missions, and objectives. According to requirements of GPRA, a strategic plan should include a mission statement, a description of the agency's long-term goals and objectives, and strategies or means the agency plans to use to achieve these general goals and objectives. The strategic plan may also identify external factors that could affect achievement of long-term goals. [GAO] Strategic planning is a systematic method used by an organization to anticipate and adapt to expected changes. The IRM portion of strategic planning sets broad direction and goals for managing information and supporting delivery of services to customers and the public and identifies the major IRM activities to be undertaken to accomplish the desired agency mission and goals. [GAO]

In order to determine where it is going, the organization needs to know exactly where it stands, then determine where it wants to go and how it will get there. The resulting document is called the "strategic plan."

agree Oliver Pekelharing : je zou het wel met de klant moeten overleggen...//unless you go with management strategy perhaps!

Thank you, Olly. The problem is "the strategic plan deals with the what (mission and strategic goals) and the how (actual strategy), wherease the "besturingsopgave" only deals with the what, but I think there's no English equivalent to "besturingsopgave".

management mandate

I think what is meant here is a mandate, i.e., a set of instructions for management about what is expected of them and the direction the company should take. If they don't succeed, they have 'not fulfilled their mandate'. If they do something they were not supposed to do, they have gone 'outside their mandate'.
Example sentence:

This Management Mandate describes the key specific duties and responsibilities of Management and how Management interfaces with the AC Board with respect to such duties and responsibilities.

Peer comment(s):

agree Michael Beijer : Hmm, I think this might also be a good option. This seems to correspond to the French 'mandat de gestion' (http://dictionary.reverso.net/business-english-french/manage...
