Danish term

banen er kridtet ordentligt op

Danish to English Marketing Sports / Fitness / Recreation
Man skal vide, hvor stregen eller grænsen er, for at kunne agere inden for den, og man undgår diskussioner, når banen er kridtet ordentligt op.

Does this mean that the lines of the football pitch are being laid down, or have been torn up?

the field is properly chalked

Kridte op is chalked up, as in chalk laid down on the field. One would never really remove chalk, as it rains away and has to be re-chalked regularly. Other examples of this use of op is måle op, as in measuring something. Skridte op, as in measuring something in steps.

[when] the base lines are straight

Decided to go with a sports reference. I had a couple of choices here. This is related to baseball. Another option is [when] the yard lines are a yard apart.

Not an exact translation, but I think it gets the meaning across while keeping a creative touch.
Example sentence:

When the base lines are straight, the umpire will have no problem making the correct call.

Lets keep our base lines straight here, or we will....
