Danish term
"forsøg på at fremme"
Danish to English
Medical
Medical (general)
The context is a research trial and they are trying to recruit patients to participate in the study. In several places the Danish text reads "deltag i et forsøg på at fremme forskningen i xxx", which sound to me like an attempt to promote research. Except it does not make sense to encourage people to participate in an attempt - it should be "trial", because of the context.
Sounds to me like the Danish should read something "forsøg der fremmer" or "forsøg for at fremme" rather than "forsøg på at fremme" if "forsøg" means "trial".
Input would be appreciated. I have been staring at it for too long.

trial to promote ....
"trial" in the medical sense is meaning no. 4 (medical dictionary) of 'forsøg'.
