Next time I see the notary, I'll ask if any of these Latin abbreviations are still used (L.S. for 'locus sigilli' is another one).

I always put 'm.p.' however on more than one occasion I have found that whoever has done the proofreading has marked this as a 'major error', as they have not come across the term before and believe that it stands only for 'Member of Parliament', but that of course would be 'MP'.

yes, it is used, right after the name of the person(s) who "signed" the document exactly in those cases when there is no handwritten signature there
