Catalan term

la sortida individual

Catalan to English Other Government / Politics
Really struggling to make sense of this.

The context:

Many thanks!

Milena Bosco (X) Jun 5, 2008:
consequently they "grow" at an older age as well. I hope that I explained myself properly...Have a nice evening.
Milena Bosco (X) Jun 5, 2008:
I just read Ross' answer (hi Ross), interesting. I was thinking about something different tough...the "individual start" in psycology is the separation from adolescence to adulthood; it could mean that young people become indipendent at a older age;
Comunican (asker) Jun 5, 2008:
Hi Milena, thanks for replying... the text before talks about flexible working and how this just means, basically, that we all have to work harder and longer hours. I'm not sure that helps in the context of the "individual start"... :S
Milena Bosco (X) Jun 5, 2008:
Hi Comunican it's Milena. I am thinking and thinking because I find the text in the last part quite contradictory, unless somewhere above, in the context, there is a link. Sortida individual means "individual start".

In this case too, the emphasis is on individual initiative...

I think the idea is just that socially people are increasingly expected to take the initiative as individuals, as in the economic arena where it's also "every man for himself".

In other words, it's a dog-eat-dog world ;-)

Maybe I'd add an "increasingly" there for good measure: In this case too, the emphasis is increasingly on individual initiative...

agree Berni Armstrong : I like the "increasingly" addition too!
