Spanish term

gamos muflones

Spanish to English Art/Literary Tourism & Travel Cuenca
En la zona central se estableció en 1973 una Reserva Nacional de Caza que cubre 25.000 Ha. y en la que habitan ciervos, gamos muflones y jabalíes.

My first impression was that a comma is missing and so it means "fallow deer, mouflon and wild boar". Am I missing something with this assumption? (I did find a few hits for "gamos muflones", which has put doubt in my mind).

TIA

Discussion

Noni Gilbert Riley Jan 28, 2007:
Sorry, that wasn't clear: I read it as three beasties, the deer, the gamos muflones and the wild boar.
Noni Gilbert Riley Jan 28, 2007:
Seeing them together doesn't bother my radar. Sorry I can't help any more though right now.

Thanks Sheilann
agree Irene Schlotter, Dipl.-Übers. : Yes. 'Gamos muflones' definitely describes two different types of animals, especially since muflons are rather sheep and do not belong to the same biological family as ciervos and damos.

Thanks Irene
agree moken : Me thinks two different beasts too - shouldn't the English spelling be mouflon though? :O) :O)

Thanks Alvaro. I found it with two spellings on google.
agree Miguel_m25 : Definetly, "ciervos, gamos, muflones y jabalíes" meens in english "red deer (Cervus elaphus), fallow deer (Dama dama), mouflons (Ovis musimon), and wild boar (Sus scrofa), wich are the main big mammals of the region of Cuenca in Spain.
