Report from  Russell Jones
It was a beautiful autumn day by the river in Cambridge. The snug was supposed to hold 15 people but 17 of us (including 2 from each of the agencies present) reorganised the furniture for a very informative round-table discussion on software pros and cons, relationships with clients, money matters and a variety of other topical issues.

While most of those attending were local to Cambridge, members travelled from as far as Norwich, Peterborough and Essex. We were also honoured to have the company of one of the elder statesman amongst ProZ.com’s UK members, Jack Doughty.

Best wishes had been exchanged with colleagues holding a simultaneous Powwow in Rome.

The discussion was so enthralling that the organiser forgot to take any photographs; apologies to all.

It is hoped to make this an annual event (which is not meant to preclude anyone from calling one sooner if they wish).

Nov 3 '11  Russell Jones: Rome Powwow
My miserable failure to provide a visual record has been even more put to shame by the one for the simultaneous Powwow in Rome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kXwUaOk33Q

Good as the food and drink was at the Fort St George, it clearly took pride of place in Rome - as might be expected of the Italians!
Nov 1 '11  Agnes Ganichaud: Thank you!
Russel, thank you so much for organising this. It was really good to meet everyone and chat, I enjoyed it! A special thanks to Gill too for spending time to tell us all about CAT tools, very informative, thank you! All in all, a good time in our little room in the Fort St George. And no worries about the photos!
A good day to you all, and maybe see some of you Cambridge people soon!

Like Karen, I greatly enjoyed this event and the interesting conversations with others.
Good venue too, good food!
Nov 1 '11  Maureen Millington-Brodie: Well done!
A great choice of venue. I enjoyed our cosy get-together and look forward to the next one. Happy translating in the meantime!

Many thanks for organising this Russell. It was fun and informative and great to meet other local translators. To next year!
Best wishes, Karen.
