Obitelj Benvenuti:
Priča vinarije Benvenuti priča je o obitelji, tradiciji i teritoriju. Smješteni smo u mirnom istarskom mjestašcu Kaldir, s pogledom na nedaleki Motovun, u okolici kojeg njegujemo tri autohtone sorte – Malvaziju Istarsku, teran i muškat. Ove su sorte kroz povijest u Istri davale najbolje rezultate, stoga nam je namjera na održiv način iskoristiti dobrobiti jedinstvenog teritorija, zahvalni što smo njegovim malenim dijelom.
Obiteljske vrijednosti i tradicija ključan su „začin“ Benvenuti vina. Na ovim temeljima proizvodimo vina u kojima sortnost odražava sve bogastvo vinograda, smještenih na nizu specifičnih mikrolokacija. Jedna od njih, San Salvatore, srce je naših sorti. Terasasta konfiguracija i bijela zemlja, uz posebne mikroklimatske uvjete, grožđu ovdje pružaju karakter koji će se u vinu odraziti u naglašenoj mineralnosti, svježini te punom izrazu svih odlika sorti. Ove odlike prisutne su u svim našim vinima, od bazične i odležale malvazije, preko svježeg i harmoničnog terana, do intenzivnih i ugodnom kiselinom bogatih slatkih vina.
Rezultat usmjerenosti na mikrolokacije i autohtone sorte - uz predan i iskren rad - su na tržištu i među strukom prepoznata vina. Djelići naše priče nalaze se u svakoj butelji vina Benvenuti, kao odraz filozofije da je vino upravo onakvo kakva je i osoba koja iza njega stoji. Na taj način želimo teritorij na kojem, i od kojeg živimo prenijeti svakom vinoljupcu. Idealno ćemo to učiniti među zrelim grozdovima naših vinograda, u podrumu, kušaonici ili, pak, smještaju za one goste koji u vinima Benvenuti i doživljaju žele uživati više od jednog dana.

Vino u obitelji proizvodimo od pamtivijeka. Ono je dio i naše tradicije, i tradicije ovih prostora. Današnja znanja uvelike možemo zahvaliti generacijama i proizvodnji vina u vinogradima od kojih su neki zasađeni još u prvim desetljećima prošlog stoljeća. Potvrda tome je i ostatak vrča iz rimskog perioda koji smo pronašli u jednom od vinograda. Ovaj artefakt se danas nalazi u muzeju u Trstu, a nama je svakodnevni podsjetnik na ono što nam je na ovom teritoriju svojevrsna misija: iskoristiti najbolje što zemlja pruža u proizvodnji vrhunskog vina. Za nas to znači iskoristiti potencijal triju autohtonih sorti – Malvazije Istarske, terana i muškata.
Grožđe vina Benvenuti raste na nekoliko lokacija koje odlikuje specifična mikroklima. Ona je rezultat utjecaja morskog zraka koji dolazi dolinom rijeke Mirne i akumulira se na našem području. Ovi uvjeti odlikuju naše vinograde na lokacijama poput Španjola, Turkova ili Fratrije. No, specifičnošću uvjeta posebno se ističu vinogradi na lokaciji San Salvatore, mjestu nekadašnjeg sela Kaldir. Na 350 do 400 metara nadmorske visine, ovaj je položaj jugozapadne orijentacije, terasaste konfiguracije i zaštićen od vjetra. Bijela zemlja ključ je mineralnosti koje daje grožđe s ovih pozicija. Vinograd San Salvatore je srce autohtonih sorti koji, uz druge lokacije, čini krvotok nas i prirode. Stoga sve naše vinorodne pozicije njegujemo na prirodno održiv način - kako bi nam jednako i vratile.
Proizvodnju smo ograničili na oko 50 tisuća butelja godišnje, količinu koja nam omogućava vrhunsku kvalitetu i autorski potpis - bez kompromisa. Harmonična struktura, voćnost i izrazita sortnost, uz neizbježnu mineralnost, osnove su svakog našeg vina, o kojima detaljno možete pročitati na ovim web stranicama.
Uz oca Livija, sinovi Nikola i Albert, čine ključan „začin“ vina Benvenuti. Biti dijelom svake butelje znači prenijeti priču o teritoriju na i od kojeg živimo. Biti vrijedan i iskren te poštovati sve što nas okružuje – ovo je naša filozofija, koju primijenjujemo i u radu, i u životu.

Malvazija Istarska 2009.
Malvazija istarska danas je prepoznata kao vodeća bijela istarska sorta i jedna od ključnih hrvatskih autohtonih sorti. Iako naše temeljno vino, riječ je o vinu harmonične strukture i jakog tijela. Ova je malvazija izuzetno svježa i mineralna te se ističe voćnošću i pozivom na čašu više. Terasasti vinogradi na bijeloj zemlji nekoliko lokacija, iz kojih dolazi malvazija, smješteni su na 250-400 metara nadmorske visine. Na tržištu se trenutno nalazi godište 2009.

Malvazija Istarska Anno Domini 2008.
Ova kompleksna malvazija izrazito je mineralna, punog je tijela, izraženih karakteristika sorte i voćna. Vinogradi, u kojima smo radi kvalitete ograničili prinose, smješteni su na položaju Turkovo, na 350 metara nadmorske visine. Malvazija Anno Domini odležala je u hrastovim bačvama 24 mjeseca, po maceraciji od 15 dana. Velikog potencijala odležavanja, u godištu 2008. smo proizveli pet tisuća boca.

Corona Grande 2009.
Corona Grande, naše temeljno slatko vino dolazi iz istoimenih vinograda, jugoistočne orijentacije, smještenih na nadmorskoj specifičnoj mikrolokaciji na visini od 350 metara. Tlo vinograda je pjeskovito, sastavljeno od ilovače i bjankuca. Kupaži Malvazije istarske i muškata dodali smo malen postotak aromatične ulovine, gotovo zaboravljene autohotne istarske sorte. Grožđe se za ovo vino bere u kasnijm terminima te prosušuje tijekom dva mjeseca. Corona Grande 2009. je harmonična, s aromama meda od akacije, grožđica i medastim retro okusom.

Malvazija Istarska San Salvatore 2009.
Na 400 metara nadmorske visine, u vinogradima na poziciji San Salvatore (gdje je nekad bilo selo Kaldir) raste malvazija za naše vino koje smatramo „novom erom malvazije“. Vinogradi na pjeskovitom tlu južne su orijentacije. Riječ je o prvoj Malvaziji istarskoj prosušenih bobica koju, prije svega, odlikuje izrazita sortnost. Na oko izrazito uljasto, ovo slatko vino odlikuju arome meda i voćnosti, dok joj karakter zaokružuju izražene kiseline (te istodobno pružaju mogućnost odležavanja). Malvazija San Salvatore 2009. odležala je 12 mjeseci u hrastu.

Teran 2008.
Jedna od ključnih hrvatskih crvenih sorti, i najznačajnija istarska, teran u našoj tradiciji zauzima posebno mjesto. Ovo vino dolazi iz vinograda Španjole, smještenih na 300 metara nadmorske
visine. Istodobno svjež i kompleksan, teran je harmonične strukture i kiselina koja mu prirodno omogućavaju velik potencijal odležavanja. Teran 2008., proizveden u šest tisuća boca, odležao je 24 mjeseca u hrastu, po maceraciji od 20 dana.

The Benvenuti family:
The story of the Benvenuti winery is a story of family, tradition and terroir. We are situated in the quiet Istrian village of Kaldir, overlooking nearby Motovun, where we grow three grape varieties – Malvasia Istriana, Teran and Muscat. Throughout history, these varieties have been giving the best results in Istria and it is therefore our intention to use the advantages of this unique territory sustainably, with gratitude for being a small part of it.
Family values and tradition are the key “condiments” of Benvenuti wines. They are the foundation upon which we produce our wines which in their grape variety reflect the abundance of our vineyards, located on several specific micro-locations. One of these, San Salvatore, is the heart of our varieties. The terraced configuration and the white soil, along with the micro-climate, give the grapes character which translates to very mineral, fresh wines, fully expressive of the characteristics of the varieties. These characteristics are expressed in all of our wines, from basic to aged Malvasias, fresh and harmonious Terans, through to intensive and pleasantly acidic sweet wines.
The results of our focus on micro-locations and indigenous varieties – along with honest, hard work – are wines that are recognised by consumers, critics and peers alike. Droplets of our story are enclosed in every Benvenuti bottle, in lieu with our philosophy: like wine, like winemaker. In this way, we would like to convey to you, the wine lover, the terroir on which and by which we live. Ideally, we will do this amongst the ripe grapes of our vineyards, in our cellar, the tasting area or rooms for those guests who wish to savour Benvenuti wines and the whole experience for more than just a day.
To us, wine has always been inseparable from life. We wish to share some of our passion with you!

The Benvenuti family (expanded):
Our family has been making wine for as long as we can remember. It is part of our family's tradition, as well as our region's. The knowledge that we have today we owe greatly to generations before us making wine in the vineyards of this area, some of which were planted in the first decades of the 20th century. Remains of a jug from the Roman Period found in one our vineyards tell of this history. This artifact is now part of a museum in Trieste, but it is a constant reminder of what our mission actually is on this territory – to use the most out of the soil in order to produce exceptional wine. To us, this means using the full potential of three indigenous varieties – Malvasia Istriana, Teran and Muscat.
The grapes for Benvenuti wines grow on several locations characterised by as specific micro-climate. This climate is created by the sea air coming through the River Mirna valley and accumulating in our area, affecting especially our vineyards Španjol, Turkov or Fratria. But even more particular are the conditions in the vineyard located at San Salvatore, where the village of Kaldir used to be. At 350 to 400 metres high, this terraced position looks to the south-west and is protected from the winds. The white soil gives the key element of minerality to the grapes from this position. The San Salvatore vineyard is the heart of our indigenous varieties, and with our other locations it creates an intertwined system of vessels between us and nature. This is why we tend to all of our vineyard positions in a naturally sustainable way – and they give nature back to us.
We have limited our production to around 50.000 bottles per year, a quantity that enables us to retain excellent quality paired with our personal signature – without compromise. A harmonious structure, fruitiness and pronounced characteristics of the varieties, with inevitable minerality, form the basis of all of our wines, which you can read about in more detail on these web pages.
With father Livio, sons Nikola and Albert are the key “condiments” of Benvenuti wines. Putting a part of us in each bottle means telling a story of the land on which and of which we live. Being earnest and hard-working, and respecting all that surrounds us – this is our philosophy; in work, as well as in life.

Malvazija Istarska
Malvazija Istarska 2009
Malvazija istarska – Malvasia Istriana is now recognised as the leading Istrian grape variety and one of the most important indigenous Croatian varieties. Although it is our basic wine, it is harmonious and strong-bodied. This Malvasia is exceptionally fresh and mineral, fruity and very drinkable. The terraced vineyards on white soil where the grapes are grown are planted on several positions, all between 250 and 400 metres high. The vintage currently on the market is 2009.
This complex Malvasia has exceptional minerality, a full body, pronounced characteristics of the variety and fruitiness. For better quality of grapes, we have minimised the yields of our vineyards in Turkovo, located at an altitude of 350 metres. Malvazija Anno Domini was aged in oak barrels for 24 months, following a 15-day maceration. With great potential for ageing, the 2008 vintage was made in 5.000 bottles.
Corona Grande, our basic sweet wine from namesake vineyards, positioned toward the south-west at a specific micro-location 350 metres in altitude. The soil is sandy, composed of clay and “bjankuco”. The Malvasia Istriana and Muscat coupage was added a small percentage of the aromatic Ulovina, an almost forgotten indigenous Istrian variety. The grapes for this wine are picked later in the year and dried for two months. Corona Grande 2009 is harmonious, with aromas of acacia honey, raisins and a honeyed retro flavour.

Malvazija Istarska San Salvatore 2009
At 400 metres above sea level, in the vineyards of the San Salvatore position (once the location of the village of Kaldir), we grow Malvasia for our wine which we have dubbed “the new era of Malvasia”. Vineyards are planted on sandy soil and face south. This is the first Malvazija Istarska made from dried grapes that is highly representative of its variety. Very oily to the eye, this sweet wine is characterised by honey aromas and fruitiness, while its character is rounded by pronounced acidity, which provides for ageing potential. The 2009 San Salvatore 2009 was aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
One of the key Croatian red varieties, and the most important Istrian red variety, Teran holds a special place in our wine history. This wine comes from the vineyards in Španjola, at 300 metres above sea. Fresh and complex at once, Teran has a harmonious structure and acidity that provides for lots of ageing potential. Teran 2008, made in 6.000 bottles, was aged in oak for 24 months, following a 20-day maceration.
This Muscat from a specific micro-location of San Salvatore, planted at 400 metres above sea level, makes for a complex sweet wine pronouncedly characteristic of its variety and full-bodied. It was aged in oak barrels for 24 months.

If you are coming down the highway from Rijeka or Pula, take the “Pazin jug” exit and follow the signs for Poreč. Then follow the signs for Motovun, and after about twenty minutes you will reach Kaldir.
If you are coming from the direction of Motovun, follow the signs for Pazin, and you will reach Kaldir after about ten minutes.
