Source text - English Unlike issue 1 and issue 2, this issue (issue 3) is special issue focusing on people engaged in traditional crafts. Most articles are in interview form.
Traditional craft is an important thing symbolizing Japanese culture. However, in recent years, there are problems such as manpower shortage. It is said that traditional craft is headed for decline without being passed down from old generation to a younger generation.
People who responded to this interview in this issue are four people who are engaged in traditional crafting around Lake Biwa.
What kind of traditional crafts world can be seen from their point of view? What kind of thought are they engaged in traditional craft? I asked about their idea of their traditional crafts.
Otsu-e painting, umpei writing brush for calligraphy, Takashima folding fan, and Obata Dolls. I am really grateful to the four people who responded to these interview.
Finally, a series article of the walking path. Here we visited Tennenzugatei (Isome-shi Garden) in Otsu city and the owner showed us his house and garden.
