What is the best free tool to produce a feasible word count for all files stored in the same directory (an html-based manual)
and,
preferably,

an online tool that would be able to produce a word count for a specific web site (I'd like to point to a url and get the wordcount for all html pages that constitute the website under that url).

I've tried a number of tools for the second task but are only able to count all words on a specific page (e.g. index page) and do not check the pages linked to the index page. ▲ Collapse

Online; I have no idea about that.

Those tools are not working anymore. I'd like to know how to have a precise words count of a Web site at the moment, but it seems pretty complex.

Any idea?
