I have the latest version of Wordfast. I have a Mac book pro, it's brand new.
I have never encountered this problem before, when I was using a PC (now dead) and the previous version of Wordfast.
I did not change anything in my settings and it happened with several different document.

Anyone has any advice?
Thank you

Which version of Wordfast Pro or Classic?

When your PC crashed did you copy all your dictionaries to the new Mac?

Dictionary locations Sep 18, 2010

WF classic stores its dictionaries in txt format, then in the wodfast setup screen you pick the terminology you use and its location, if you don't really know where your dics are and you used them in WF classic I would suggest searching for all txt files and opening them to see which are dictionaries.

Then opening wf pro you go to Terminology, click on import and follow the instructions.

WF Pro Sep 18, 2010

Alex, she is talking about WF Pro.

I think that I know what she means. WF seems to save the glossaries in another way than WF Classic. I don't know where the glossaries of WF Pro are either, I cannot find them. So I suggest to export the glossary to a new Wordpad file (Export - Export type: tab delimited - choose another name) and then to import the terms into an existing glossary (Import into existing terminology).

In my opinion this means, by the way, that if one has several glossaries in WF Pro, the result of hard work, he or she will have to export them from regularly in order to backup them on another medium. I had a computer crash last year and although I copied all my data, I didn't save the mails, which were in the proprietary format of my mail program, and lost all of them. I am afraid there is something like that with the WF glossaries. Or am I missing something?

terminology versus dictionary Sep 19, 2010

As far as I understand here we have the terminology, where you enter your source word and target word, and the dictionary, that you can enrich when you run your spell check. Are these the same thing? I thought not. Especially because when I run the spell check, many words that are in my terminology are not recognized as "correct" words during the spell check.
I was able to save my terminology in my new Mac. And this works fine.

My problem is that I cannot save any term in the dictionary when I run the spell check, so that next time it does not flag it as "incorrect".
Any insight?
Thank you

I still need help adding terms in dictionary Dec 3, 2010

I run my spell check.
When a term is highlighted as incorrect (because technical term) but is in fact correct, I click on "add to dictionary" to save it BUT the same term will appear again as incorrect throughout the document.
Also, "ignore all" does not work.
Help!

Hello,

I have the same problem (and no solution). I use Wordfast Pro Version: 2.4.0.1 (for Mac).

WF Support? Aug 11, 2011

I think it's a crying shame that these issues still haven't been sorted out. I have raised this problem with WF support multiple times now and never even received an answer. Now we have 2.4.2 and nothing's changed, not to mention the promised support for the Word spellchecker which has never been implemented for Mac.

So basically WF has Mac users pay for a software that is - at best - a beta version. Sorry, but that's not how you do it.

and I have the same issues with the Microsoft Spellchecker in Wordfast Pro (april 2011 version). It is pretty useless, won't ignore all and catches maybe 20% of all mistakes. Unspell is also a joke.

I work with very large XML files and I have no idea how I will spellcheck it all. When I translate word documents I spellcheck once the document is done translated and I use Antidote (outside of Wordfast). Which give some issues since my TM is never accurate and has mistakes.

I am a very new user of Wordfast Pro. Is there a way to add a spellchecker?

The solution would be export to tabular RTF Aug 17, 2011

SophieCT wrote:

I don't think so. What Wordfast Pro really needs is the ability to export translated TXMLs as tabular RTF (so you can do the spell checking and other proofreading in Word) and to reimport the RTF back into WFP, updating the original TXML with changes made in Word (if any). Déjà Vu, memoQ and SDL Trados Studio do this. WFP should also have such a feature.

You can export TXML's to the bilingual Wordfast/Trados Word format via a workaround, but it's a one-way trip only, you can't update your TXML with changes made in Word, so this is not very useful.

"ignore" works "add" it doesn't Aug 20, 2011

I can use ignore and ignore all with 2.4.2. version

I still cannot add technical terms to the dictionary (not the terminology) when I run the spell-check. Lots of time wasted for having to "ignore" the same terms over and over for every document.
This should be fixed. It's a pretty basic function to have, in my opinion.
