I'm a freelance translator with plenty of qualifications, experience and ambition. I've always enjoyed learning languages and decided to pursue this passion.
Academic background
I received an MA (Hons) in French and German from the University of Edinburgh in 2015 with First Class Honours and Distinction in Spoken French and German.
The following year, I secured an MSc in Translating and Interpreting with Merit from Heriot-Watt University.
Following a number of engaging, high-profile projects in the field, I am currently studying part-time alongside my translation work for a PgDip in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Transition, also from Heriot-Watt University. I am currently on course to complete the programme in the summer of 2025. This means I can offer specialist services in relation to renewables and the sustainable transition.
Professional background
I have always believed in the value of hard work - an ethic I've applied from my part-time jobs as a teenager to my professional practice as a freelance translator.
Examples of recent projects (client names redacted for confidentiality reasons, due to NDAs etc.) include:
Entire website and regular blog content for a manufacturer and supplier of solar power systems
A government report on the integration of AI in the energy sector
An entire book on companies in the German Mittelstand, with profiles on firms in various sectors
Entire in-house magazines for several German universities and companies in various industrial sectors, including metal producers, construction and civil engineering firms, m and a prominent German research organisation. Special issues on ESG, sustainability and the energy transition
An expert report on the use and potential benefits of AI and digital solutions in the healthcare sector
Internal documentation, regulations (incl. on safety, accounting, HR) and correspondence for universities and industrial firms
Employment contracts, partnership agreements and articles of association
Hundreds of press releases for various universities, research institutes and companies in the construction, logistics, real estate, investment and pharmaceutical sectors
A translation of Oliver Breda's walking guide to Madeira, originally published by Michael Müller Verlag, published in English by Trailblazer Publications (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Madeira-Walks-Selected-Regions-Trailblazer/dp/190586499X)
Pitch decks and tender documentation for businesses in the creative industries, including translation agencies seeking to acquire new end clients
Extensive web content for premium cosmetic surgery and dental clinics
QM documentation for a specialist translation agency, with ISO-specific terminology
Course outlines and descriptions for the Architecture department of a specialist German university
A French government directive on the processing of thermosensitive flexible endoscopes
In every project, I combine comprehensive background research with precise use of terminology and a natural, fluent use of English. I always pride myself on the quality of my work, and check my translations thoroughly and repeatedly to ensure they are both accurate and idiomatic representations of the source text.
I never accept a project I don't feel I can translate perfectly. I'm aware of my abilities but also my limitations, and apply this philosophy to every project. If you have a specific project in mind, or would like to discuss a looser, long-term collaboration, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
