Studio 2009: Any ideas on how to export particular TUs?

Hello,

I want to export part of a TM from Studio 2009, in order to use it with Trados 2007. I would particularly like to know this: how could I export only the TUs connected with the particular project I've just finished working on?

There are two ways Sep 30, 2011

You can either generate a project-specific TM via the batch task option in your projects overview, or you can create a new TM and import the SDLXLIFF file of your project.

Either way, you'll have to export your TM in TMX format as Trados 2007 can't handle SDLTM files.

I assume you didn't use Fields, so maybe the best way is to take the sdlxliffs from your Studio 2009 project, create a new TM and import those sdlxliffs with the Import command.

Then export the TM and import to T2007.

Update TM using Fields Sep 30, 2011

Hi,

You could also add an appropriate text field to the TM in your Project settings, then run the update TM batch task. This will add the field to all TUs that are then stored in the TM.

Then just run a filtered export on the TM in TM Maintenance.

Could you be a little more specific about the first option, please? The most relevant items in the batch tasks at the projects overview were Update Main Translation Memories and Update Project Translation Memories.

Studio 2009 is quite new to me and, as it is very different from Trados, there is a whole new world to discover!
