Hello,
After a system restore yesterday, Trados 2007 gave me the message that "trial has expired. Please, activate product". When I submit my activation license code, I get the message "Could not contact activation server - error code 50018". I tried to activate with activated and deactivated firewall and antivirus, just in case it blocked my access to the server, but in vain.

I tried to activate with activated and deactivated firewall and antivirus, just in case it blocked my access to the server, but in vain.
I need to note that about a month ago I had had my system reformatted and I had to reinstall and reactivate Trados, but nothing indicated that it was running in trial mode, quite the opposite, I even remember getting a "Congratulations for the activation" message.
I searched the SDL Knowledge base and I saw that the problem is due to SDL's server function troubles. I submitted a support request, but still they haven't responded and it might be a while before they do so...
Has any of you experienced this and what did you do to get past (or round) this problem? Is there anything I can do except wait for SDL to react?

Hello Eleni,
did you return your license before restoring? If your license is shown as available in the section My licenses of your SDL account, nothing more than wait, it's a server problem.
If it is shown as in use, well, you've got a problem, as you won't be able to activate it and will have to inform SDL about that, too. I always return my licenses before tinkering with my PCs, perhaps not necessary in case of a sys restore, but I prefer not to run into extra troubl... See more Hello Eleni,

Well, I returned my license, I activated the product after having turned off antivirus and firewall, and now Trados works fine!
