Toward the bottom of תלוש משכורת. I am translating, "Obligatory deductions and determining salary." Is this correct?

גמל It is one kind of a pension fund according to local legislation. I would translate the first term as "mandatory deductions" (social security, health insurance - are both mandatory).

No, it's not determining salary here.

I believe they are talking about "ניכוי לקופת גמל" - "Provident fund deducations"...so it would be better translated as:

"compulsory and provident fund deductions"....

However, there's something quite redundant about it, since provident fund deductions ARE themselves compulsory deductions.
