Announcing new Connect! features: vendor management, job posting, availability

Vendor management

The first steps have been taken to integrate vendor management functionality into ProZ.com Connect. It is now possible to upload a list of your language vendors, match them with existing ProZ.com profiles, and manage them using the Connect sourcing tools.

To upload your list of vendors click the "Vendors" tab in the Connect menu, and then click Add/Import vendors.

To include (or exclude) your vendors from a job posting or PowerSearch, use the "My vendors" requirement when defining your need.

Simplified job posting

Until now, only "premium" jobs (those which paid market rates or better) could be posted within Connect. Other jobs had to be posted in ProZ.com's legacy "standard" job system. With this release, it is now possible to post and manage "standard" jobs within Connect.

Now, when defining a need, you will be asked whether this is a "premium" job. If you say yes, any job listing you post for that need will automatically be branded as premium. Otherwise, you can still post a job listing, but it will not be branded as premium, and linguists who have asked to be notified only of premium jobs will not be alerted.

In addition, a simplified form is now available as an alternative to the requirements wizard, for faster job posting.

Availability and translator capacity

A new requirement type has been added that allows you to require potential candidates to have specified they are available to take on new work in a specified time period.

In addition, translators can now specify the number of words they are available to translate each day. In the future, once enough translators have specified this information, it will be possible to define a new requirement that translators have an available capacity of a specified number of words during a given period of time.

To use the new availability requirement, select the "Availability" requirement type when defining your need.
